Flood Relief - Southwest VA

Updated 10/10/2024

The first load of supplies was hauled to Damascus and Bristol 10/9/2024. We promised to update you on needed items. Our recommendation is to stop donating items and instead donate funds to reputable non-profits capable of directly assisting victims. Faith-based organizations are also good options.

Any items which were donated yesterday and today will still be hauled to a donation center.

The response from our community was overwhelming. We hauled approximately 6,000 pounds of bottled water and approximately 8,000 pounds of food, clothing, and bedding.

Again, THANK YOU!

Wintergreen Fire & Rescue has partnered with Washington County, Virginia to get flood relief items to Virginians in need.  It is our intention to support this effort until assistance is no longer needed.

Below you may find a list of needed items. You may drop off items at either fire/rescue station. If you don't see one of our staff, please leave your items in the foyer. We will find them. Our staff will haul these items to Washington County.

There is no cut-off date for donations. This need will go on for quite a while. As priorities change, we will update them on our website on this page.

Items needed:
Pre-made formula in bottles, baby bottles, baby blankets, food in pop top cans, rice, Ramen noodles, gallons of distilled water, electrolytes, heavy duty gloves, shovels, batteries, flashlights, charcoal, bleach, adult and children OTC medications (Advil, Benadryl, etc.), bug spray/after bite spray, wound care medical supplies, iodine tablets, wipes, bread, peanut butter, jelly, paper products, and extension cords, heavy blankets, sleeping bags, hand and foot warmers, cold weather clothes for adults and children (thermals, thick socks, jackets, fleece items)
